The main prize for the winner – IED Istituto Europeo di Design in Italy will grant a summer course “Textile Design: Trend Forecast, Painting and Printing” held in English language at IED Como.
The theoretical and technical knowledge acquired during the two weeks of the program is fundamental for approaching the realization and production process of the design on fabric. At the end of this textile laboratory the winner will be able to plan and realize personal and original drawings on fabrics. Through this education path IED provides students with an overview of the textile industry, with a particular focus on the Interior Design field, including the basics of fabrics, fibers, and techniques, while highlighting the important historical context and cultural influence.
Thanks to its manufacturing production, whose great quality is worldwide known, and to its approach to innovation, Como has been an important centre of the last century artistic avant-garde, with the fine arts academy Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli as a reference point and an essencial part of IED network. The academic offer ranges from undergraduate to master programs in textile design and furniture design, up to production and restoration of artworks, drawing fully from the local excellences in material and craftsmanship.
