Description

1. Color in geology is used to specify rocks and the type of minerals it contains. The color palette of a rock can be seen with the human eye but there is a whole colorful world in there when you see it trough a microscope.

The colors used in next designs are inspired by what nature shows on its surface and the impressive microscopic world were it is build from. The three dimensional curves and layers found in geological compositions are used to shape the designs.

The silhouettes consist of a combination of hand-drawn and digital prints, which are used to create different media. These media consist of screen printed textile, digital prints, (3D) wovens and knits.

2. The following works are inspired by the three-dimensionality and elegance of the ruffs that were worn by women at the court during the Baroque period (17th Century).

These ruffs were often made from lace and were considered to be luxurious garments. Despite they were only worn once, they were highly detailed and had a prominent place in the fashion during that time.

The designs are an abstraction of the maximalist baroque ruffs and its three-dimensionality, to a contemporary minimalistic language. They consist of digital prints, which are used on different fabrics, such as wool and silk combined with 3D-embroidery.
