Solstudio Textile Group and the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry have launched the forth international contest for textile designers Textile Design Talents 2020. Owing to the fact last year more than 400 designers from 119 cities and 29 countries applied for participation, including: England, Italy, France, Belgium, Denmark, India, China, Israel, USA, Namibia, Indonesia, Puerto Rico and many others.

The contest is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Russian Week of Textile and Light Industry and the INTERFABRIC exhibition.

Today textile design remains the main driver of fashion. The Textile Design Talents Solstudio Award contest is targeted to support talented textile designers and to draw attention of professionals from related spheres to them and create conditions for better application and development of their outstanding capabilities in the industry.

The competition declares a broad understanding of textile design, combining that notion with surface design: from pattern creation for fabric and clothing to ornaments used in interior environment, accessories, footwear and any other surfaces related to main trends of fashion and light industry development.

The competition brought together a strong international jury.

Contest Stages

Awards RULES 2021

First place

The main prize for the winner – IED Istituto Europeo di Design in Italy will grant a summer course “Textile Design: Trend Forecast, Painting and Printing” held in English language at IED Como. The winner will get also an Award Statuette, a Diploma, , flight or train tickets to Italy,  AvaCad license and Cad specialist training (CST) from AvaCad company, flight or train tickets to Italy.

Thanks to its manufacturing production, whose great quality is worldwide known, and to its approach to innovation, Como has been an important centre of the last century artistic avant-garde, with the fine arts academy Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli as a reference point and an essencial part of IED network. The academic offer ranges from undergraduate to master programs in textile design and furniture design, up to production and restoration of artworks, drawing fully from the local excellences in material and craftsmanship.

Second place

Epson full-color printer and 10 T-shirts with a print after the design of this category’s winner.

The winner will get also an Award Statuette, a Diploma, AvaCad license and Cad specialist training (CST) from AvaCad company.

Led by the Japan-based Seiko Epson Corporation, Epson is a global imaging and innovation leader with a lineup that ranges from 3LCD projectors and smart glasses to devices that print on a variety of media, from plain and photo-paper to textile.

Epson offers a wide range of textile solutions, including dye-sublimation and direct-to-garment (DTG) printers, such as SureColor SC-F2100 that offers a complete DTG package for designing and printing t-shirts and other fabric items.

Third place

Digital textile printing of the winner’s print collection of 10 patterns at the participant’s option, at the Solstudio Industry factory . The production is fully funded by the Contest Organizer.

The winner will get also an Award Statuette, a Diploma, AvaCad license and Cad specialist training (CST) from AvaCad company.


The Contest is assessed by an independent international jury consisting
of the world leading professionals of textile design.
