Textile design is the heart and soul, as well as one of the main drivers of light industry. The Textile Design Talents Solstudio Award Contest is targeted at supporting talented textile designers, draw the attention of all branch professionals to them, and create conditions for better application and development of their outstanding capabilities in the industry.

The competition declares a broad understanding of textile design, combining that notion with surface design: from pattern creation for fabric and clothing to ornaments used in interior environment, accessories, footwear and any other surfaces related to main trends of fashion and light industry development.

The Contest invites design professionals, independent textile and interior designers, designers of clothing and accessories, design studios and artistic associations, students and graduates of specialized higher education institutions, as well as all those with relevant background and desire to create textile patterns.

The Contest participants will have to review the contest assignment: a mood board for two trends of the seasons, and create a collection of textile patterns to be assessed by a professional international jury.

Contest Stages

Deadlines – 17th of February 2019

Awards

First place

One-week paid practical training at Ratti S.p.A. – Marzotto Group (Italy) textile factory. The winner will also get an Award Statuette, a Diploma and Panton color guide book.

Ratti is the largest textile factory in Europe that for over 70 years has been specialized in haute couture fabrics. Ratti manufacture fabrics for such leading Fashion Houses as Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, and many others. Ratti Design Studio is one of the largest in Europe.


Fondazione Antonio Ratti Museum is a place that every textile designer is keen to visit. The museum is renowned for its unique collection of over 400,000 fabrics for female and male clothes and accessories, for home décor, starting from 1945.

Second place

A certificate of 50,000 rubles from the Fashion Factory School business school for any training course. The winner will also get an Award Statuette, a Diploma and Panton color guide book.

Third place

Digital textile printing of the participant’s print collection of 10 patterns at the participant’s option. The production is fully funded by the Contest Organizer. The winner will also get an Award Statuette, a Diploma and Panton color guide book.

Special nominations

From Alena Akhmadullina – internship in the company of the Alena Ahmadullina brand; from Solstudio Textile Design – internship in the textile design studio.


A special category from Epson company – «Epson nomination» – with Epson L1800 photo printer and a T-shirt with a print after the design of this category’s winner.


A special category from the Pantone company – “Pantone Best Use of Color”– with a new version of the pantone FHI Metallic Shimmers Color Guide as a prize.


Also, the winners and finalists of the competition will receive commemorative diplomas, Pantone color guide books and design books from the Association of Object Design Specialists and the publishing house “Delo”.


Jury

The Contest is assessed by an independent international jury consisting
of the world leading professionals of textile design.
